- Jeanyne James, et al.
In this trial, nine plaintiffs sue energy company PacifiCorp for their role in Oregon's fires on Labor Day of 2020. Representatives for the plaintiffs claim that PacifiCorp failed to appropriately deactivate portions of their power grid before a major storm.
PacifiCorp disputes these claims. Their representatives assert that the shutdowns the plaintiffs suggest would have also cut power from hospitals and negatively impacted emergency services.
Verdict for plaintiff.
Total damages: $88,875,186.53
Including $71,875,186.53 in compensatory damages and $17 million in punitive damages.
