MacDonald v. Women's Healthcare

CONCLUDED

Trial
03/04/15 – 03/17/15

Summary

Jury trial in medical malpractice suit originally filed in 2000. This is the third trial in this litigation, after a mistrial in 2011 and a defense verdict later that year, which was subsequently thrown out by the Fourth District Court of Appeals.

Plaintiff Melissa MacDonald claims doctors used a vacuum device while she gave birth without her giving the required consent. MacDonald alleges that the vacuum device caused injuries to her infant's brain, resulting in the child developing cerebral palsy, which her suit claims will require a lifetime of costly medical care.
