Summary

In this Engle progeny tobacco litigation proceeding, plaintiff Reinaldo Ojeda (personal representative of the estate of Juan Ojeda) alleged R J Reynolda Tobacco of fraudulent concealment of dangers of smoking cigarettes manufactured by the company due to which Juan Ojeda got addicted to smoking and also alleged the company of manufacturing defective cigarettes due to which Juan Ojeda was diagnosed with emphysema (COPD). In 1996, Juan Ojeda was diagnosed with lung cancer, and died a few months later.


The plaintiff was represented by attorney Howard Acosta. The defendant in this case, R J Reynolds was represented by attorneys Ursula Henninger and W. Ray Persons.
