Summary

In this medical malpractice litigation proceeding, plaintiff Gary Striepling (personal representative of the estate of Shirley Streipling) alleged Valley Health System LLC and its staff of negligence by inadvertently severing the common bile duct during the abdominal surgery, which plaintiff’s wife Shirley Striepling was undergoing to treat a stomach ulcer with a partial gastrectomy. The subsequent failure of the bile duct sutures allegedly resulted in sepsis and caused Mrs. Striepling’s death in January, 2007, at age 71, approximately a week after the surgery.

The plaintiff was represented by attorneys Brett Carter and Lawrence Smith. The defendant in this case, Valley Health System LLC was represented by attorneys Seetal Tejura and LeAnn Sanders.
